About Vactuality

Originally devised and delivered by C21VOX for Staffordshire’s Youth Music Action Zone and funded by the Youth Music Foundation, the Vactuality now operates across the UK with a virtual dimension on an interactive website. The term Vactuality represents both the virtual and actual aspects of the project.

Vactuality is targeted at young people aged 12-18 who would not generally have had the resources, facilities or support to develop their interest in music.

We aim to give Vactuality participants opportunity to work with our distinguished team of experienced musicians, songwriters and designers  in a series of workshops throughout the UK.

These workshops guide the participants through the complete creative process involved in producing music - from songwriting and composition through to performance, sleeve design and virtual release of their material through the vactuality website.

In December 2001, C21VOX held the first Vactuality workshops and production weekend at Tamworth Palace Media Centre, culminating in a live performance, a live radio broadcast on Cannock-based Chase FM and a series of recordings which feature on the website.

Summer 2002 saw the first Vactuality Summer Schools at the Rugeley Red Rose Theatre and Birmingham Central Library.  Both schools culminated in live performance, with the Rugeley performance being broadcast live online.

Vactuality now continues into 2004 with more new and exciting projects.
